Field application

Ensure the wood surface condition is sound, this can be done with any standard adhesion tape test.
Clean and condition substrate. Remove any algae, fungus, mildew, etc. with an appropriate surface cleaners and conditioners.
Solar Shield is not recommended over wood previously coated with an opaque stain.
Do not apply coating if temperature is below 50 degrees F., above 90 degrees F., or rain is expected in the next 24 hrs
Stir the coating before and during application.
Two coats of Solar Shield MUST be applied for proper performance.
The spread rate per coat should be approximately 300 square ft per gallon
Apply even coats with a brush following the direction of the grain , remove excess coating, leaving an even, wet sheen on the surface.
Apply the first coat to all sides and ends, including the back, preferably before installation, and allow to dry (approximately 4 hours)
The second coat may be applied to exposed surfaces only.
Touch up any surface damage incurred during installation.
Allow the coating to dry 24 hours for light traffic, 72 hours for complete cure.
